Here we have a review from our good friends at Ashfield District Council. In April 2025, we supplied the council with ten Mini Marquees for its outdoor markets. More than a year on, the Markets Team has kindly shared its experience of using them for everything from twice-weekly markets to community events. Here’s what they had to say in their own words.
Choosing gazebos for everyday use
Ashfield District Council carried out a procurement exercise in 2024 to purchase some replacement gazebos for use at our outdoor markets. It was noted that the gazebos supplied by Mini Marquees were amongst the most substantial on the market, perfect for everyday use in a variety of weather conditions. We particularly appreciated the ground anchor kits which keep the gazebo square and secure the side sheets preventing them flapping in the wind.
Getting the design right
Having selected Mini Marquees as the preferred supplier we worked closely with the company to select the closest match to our corporate colours, and the combination of panels we wanted the gazebos in. Lee and his team were very co-operative in designing and re-designing several different options for us. We purchased eight 6m x 3m gazebos and two 3m x 3m gazebos, which were delivered in April 2025.
Training and ongoing support
On delivery of the gazebos the Mini Marquees team provided a training session for the Markets Team, which enabled us to draft a comprehensive risk assessment and safe system of work. They were also on hand at the Hucknall Market 150-year anniversary event in April 2025 to work alongside the Markets Team and provide further support and training. Since then we have had great support from the company in providing spare parts for the gazebos as required.
From weekly markets to community events
The gazebos are used twice a week at two of our market sites, and we also use them several times a year to support community and corporate events. They have been used both on hardstanding and on grass.
The council’s verdict
In summary we have been very pleased with the gazebos we have purchased from Mini Marquees, they are very robust and well made. The service that we have received from Lee and his team has been excellent and we would be happy to recommend the company for your consideration.
